Has anyone heard of The Freecycle Network™? If you haven’t, you MUST learn about it today!
Freecycle is a GREAT network of folks living in your OWN communities getting and giving away FREE stuff! Yes, I said FREE! The object of Freecycle is to “recycle” gently used items to others in the community. This is a GREAT way to keep still good items out of our landfills!
Another great thing about Freecycle, you can pick up some great HOMEGROWN organic fruits & veggies, and plants from local gardens! I have been able to get a ton of great produce through this network for generous Freecyclers!
Here’s what I’ve picked up in the last month ALONE!
- organic parsley
- organic sweet potatos
- golden squash plant
- lemons & limes from a backyard tree!
- oregano plant
- Geranium ivy cuttings
- other succlant plants
- 15-20 glass jars & containers – which I use to store my bulk goods
- a cool 35mm MINOX camera
- 2 water color prints from Vietnam 🙂
- and MORE!
We’ve posted in the past baby clothes my son grew out of, our clothes, various kitchen items…etc. The possibilities are ENDLESS!
You get to meet so many interesting people too! Great way to help the environment and pick up a few cool items you can use too!
Check out Freecycle today!
Here is the official welcome message on their website:
Welcome! The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 5,104 groups with 9,419,354 members around the world. It’s a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It’s all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by local volunteers (them’s good people). Membership is free. To sign up, find your community by entering it into the search box above or by clicking on ‘Browse Groups’ above the search box. Have fun!
